Groundblog day

It seems fitting. Today is Groundhog Day. Or should I say Groundblog Day? It never meant much to me as we only have gophers and moles here. It's not likely anyone will be naming a holiday after one of those species. But the day has a whole new meaning if you recall that great Bill Murray/Andi MacDowell movie of the same name. The same day repeated over and over for him until he 'got it right'.

It's been weird. Here is it Feb 2, 2007 and we haven't had a lick of rain in weeks and weeks. No doubt our time will come in March...a torrent. Buckets. I guess I should savor the mild weather.

2007 is already turning into a watershed (no pun intended) year. Real estate activity is already much improved tho' sales prices are still soft. Buyers are out there and, like the groundhog, are gingerly testing the waters. "Should we buy now or wait?" they seem to say. Ah, just another cycle. After eight years of madness, how long will this trough last? I'm not worried. Real estate in this blessed area can only, ultimately, be a good investment. Mild weather, clean air, a great community. Move here and you'll have trouble moving anywhere else.

Right now, I'm moving to the piano for a little Beethoven.
